At church today Emma had half the congregation (behind her) captivated. During worship I was holding Toby and my friend Christina had Emma. She let Emma stand in the aisle where she was dancing, clapping and lifting her hands, like the people around her. Emma was completely oblivious to the attention she was getting.
Here's a picture my friend (thanks Meredith) took from the row behind us...
We have not coached Emma on how to respond in church. She knows how to pray and how to worship. For that reason we will keep her in the sanctuary as much as we can. We want her to have a heart for God and celebrate His Son with us.
That said, we had to leave before PB's sermon as Emma was a little too excited about sitting with Aunt Kimberly and GrandPops! We stayed in the lobby where I listened to the sermon on the speaker and Emma ran around in the open space!
Emma answers "YEAH" to "Do you want to go to church?" and shrieks "church, church" when we pull up outside. She feels safe and knows how much she is loved by all. I am thankful she can connect that with God. We hope Toby will feel the same way.
