Die-arrhea!

After finally meeting with Emma's doctor in person everything finally became clear! NICUs are not immune to communication issues!!

Basically he can not send Emma home from hospital sick! That really does make sense. The fact that she has diarrhea confirms that she has a bug and could potentially become dehydrated. Therefore they want to keep her in until it passes and monitor her. Hopefully that should be no more than a couple days.

It is not so serious that had she already been home she would have needed hospitalization, but it wouldn't be good medical practice to send a sick child home after spending 3 months getting her well!

I am pleased to report that Emma successfully maintained her blood sugar level during the night when they skipped the mid-night feed! So, for now Scott and I have at least one more night of decent sleep!

Hopefully Emma will be home with us soon, and will let you know when she is.

My heart goes out to you. Sorry for the disappointment! I know how mad little ones can get with a red bottom, but the diarrhea is absolutely no fun. HMPH!!
