Chatterbox

We have been working on Emma's speech a lot lately and while she finds it difficult to articulate many words without the lip movement she is doing great.

While we were on vacation Emma spent lots of time with the adults, two 5 year olds and a 3 year old all talking. The kids love Scott, and were always trying to play with him so a phrase Emma heard a lot was "Uncle Scott." Emma liked the sound of it.

Some of the words she is saying, and sometimes using with signs, are:
Up
Down
Off
Mama
Dada
Uncle Scott

The cutest part is that when we want her to say something, rather than sign we point to our mouths, so when she says things she does the same thing!

As with the eating, speaking is going to be slow progress also, and to what extent she will have trouble we don't know. It is encouraging to see progress, especially when children half her age are using words. The sign language is great and has been priceless for her to communicate but I am increasingly eager for her to catch up with her peers. I know - patience!!

And this is just Emma being goofy...
