Kids Bowl Free

I know, I haven't posted much his week. I guess we haven't done too much and I haven't had the camera out either. Let's see:
Monday was raining and we just ran errands in the morning. An average birthday for a year not ending in 0!

Tuesday we went to the library. The program was on a break for two weeks so it was nice to get back. We were a little late so I sat at the back while Emma went to her usual spot. It amazes me how self-confident she is, and friendly to everyone. I love it. We had some friends over for dinner which was nice. They don't have kids so once ours were in bed it felt like we went back in time!

Wednesday was quiet, and Scott was on baby duty again that night! I am loving the sleep thing!

Thursday was quiet again. The weather perked up some and we went outside for a bit in the morning, before Emma's speech therapist came. She was really impressed with Emma's handling of the food I was giving her and also major improvements in her language. She's doing really awesome - yeah, terrible grammar!! Sue me!

Oh and Toby gave me a real treat. Check out this picture if you are interested - HERE - I warn you, it's not for the squeamish!

Now the good stuff. Today we arranged to go bowling with some friends. This summer there is a program where kids under 15 can get two free games of bowling, every day! since Emma is so little she doesn't have to hire shoes, so it really is free. I wasn't sure how it would go, but why not give it a try.

In a moment of insanity though I forgot to take my camera! Where would we be without camera phones? My friends also had cameras so I'll post the pics when they email them to me. For now, here is Emma bowling her first ball...

They have these great ramps for the really little kids so they just have to push the ball and it rolls down the dragons back and down the lane. Emma loved it and even though she only had to wait for two people to go before her next turn she kept asking me "me turn?"

Toby hung out with Kaylee, the 11 mth old sister of Emma's buddy Joey. The two were in a double stroller but Toby kept trying to chew Kaylee's strap, then her foot. In the end he hit her in the face and made her cry! I took him out and gave him a bottle at that point.

It took us an hour and half to get through one game, with just 6 kids (3 on each lane)! But the kids loved it and it was a great way to teach them about taking turns and cheering each other on. I did try to help Emma's score by angling the dragon against the bumpers, but I couldn't keep it going!

You might wonder why we would do that on a sunny day when it will be over 80f. The answer is simple - air conditioning!! Tomorrow is going to be 90f and I would love to sit in the sun and work on a tan but not a chance!! Not only will I have the two kids to myself, but I have a church meeting in the morning and then my birthday dinner in the early evening.

Summer will be here soon enough, and then we can go to the beach for the day!!

Best gift of all

Last night was magical. Scott uttered those special words that I long to hear but our seldom spoken - "I'll get up with the baby in the night." Ahh, what a wonderful gift, a night on un-interrupted sleep.

Scott brought home white and red roses for me. He went to South Philly to get a cheesecake from a real bakery, instead of regular cake. He cleaned up after dinner and did all the dishes. He gave Emma her bath and put her to bed. And he got up with Toby in the night.

In reality that meant feeding him at 11.30pm and then 5am. For me, the earplugs went in and I slept right through! I did hear the faint sound of crying - the monitor has to be on full volume to wake Scott up, but I smiled and went back to sleep.

I woke up when Scott left and both kids were up by 6.45am, but that didn't matter one bit. I had a wonderful birthday evening and a gift that was priceless!

Now I can't wait until Mother's Day on May 9!!

This is the Tip of the Day on my calender today, my birthday:

For an effective fertilizer spread hair clippings on your soil - it contains more nitrogen than cow manure.

Nice!

Unfortunately Scott is working today so we are celebrating on Saturay and we're going out for dinner, for the first time in months.

Today I figured I would go about life as normal, after all it's not like it's Mother's Day or something! This actually meant doing laundry and grocery shopping in one day. Thankfully Nanna was happy to watch Toby for me, so Emma and I could run around and do the shopping.

Emma is funny in the car now. At every stop sign (and there are many) she likes to spell stop! She's done it so much that she can actually spell it from memory or knows what you are spelling if you say the letters! She's also talking about the weather and music.

Today the weather sucks! It's cool and raining. Emma kept saying "Mummy, no sun!!"

I was hoping to grab a nap after putting the kids down, but I didn't get my stuff done until after 2.30pm. Toby went down at 1pm and was back up at 3pm! It was fine as I got to spend some one-on-one time with the cutest boy ever.

Scott came home and brought me some flowers and a big cheesecake!! Christina and the guys got me the perfect brownie pan, to make my already awesome brownies perfect. Kimberly got me some of my favourite chocolate truffles (still a couple left!). And I have to thank the people who provided the means for me to buy some new summer clothes. My nieces, sister and my in-laws - thanks! (I'm under my pre-pregnancy weight now, thanks to the 24-hour GI bug!!)

Celebrating aging is really quite an odd tradition, but to take the sting out of it is a great idea!! Happy Birthday to me!
